The next board meeting will be held on October 13 - 14, 2010 at the NM Board of Nursing. The business meeting will be held on October 15th in Farmington, NM at the San Juan College in the Henderson Fine Arts Building.

PUBLIC RULE HEARING:
The New Mexico Board of Nursing will hold a Rules Hearing on Friday, October 15, 2010. The rules hearing will be held at the San Juan College, Henderson Fine Arts Building, Rooms 9009 and 9010, 4601 College Blvd, Farmington NM 87402.
The purpose of the rules hearing is to hear public testimony and comments regarding the proposed amendments to the Board’s rules and regulations: 16.12 NMAC: Part 1 General Provisions and Part 2 Nurse Licensure.

Effective Jan 1, 2009, the New Mexico Board of Nursing will no longer issue hard copy licenses or duplicate licenses. Licensure, including renewal, can be verified by using our on-line License/Certificate Lookup. The New Mexico Board of Nursing no longer does internal evaluation of transcripts. Please be sure to read all the information regarding licensure requirements by clicking on Exam/Renewal Forms, then select "Exam Application" for complete details regarding application. All applications from internationally educated applicants that do not meet requirements of transcript evaluation by a recognized credentials review organization will be returned.
Internationally educated nurses must demonstrate English Competency. This can be demonstrated through successful completion of an approved English Competency exam such as:
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or
- Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) or
- Test for English for the academic version of international English language testing system (IELTST) or
- Successful completion of a nursing program that is given in English in another country or
- A passing score on a nursing examination which is given in English in another country or
- A certificate from the commission on graduates from foreign nursing schools or other agencies which indicates successful completion of TOEFL, TOEIC, or IELTS.
